When it comes to fashion, reinvention is key. Revamping your wardrobe doesn’t always require you to break the bank. As fashion trends turn a new leaf for fall, incorperating a few strategic tweaks into your seasonal practice can add new staple items to your wardrobe. Together, we will run through a couple of basic practices to help renovate your wardrobe.
Meet your new best friend: Tailor.
We all have those clothes shoved in the back out our closet that are too nice to auction off to a thrift store but unfortunately never see the light of day. Why? They just look weird on you, right? Good news, I’m happy to introduce you to your new bestie, the tailor. Take your ill-fitting garments to the tailor and get them sized to perfection. Not only are you finally getting to wear the items you regattably put in the “keep” pile during spring cleaning, but your also not breaking the bank by getting a quick fix.
Accessories to elevate:
We all have our go-to staple outfits for a reason – they’re comfortable, reliable, and always leave you walking out the door with confidence. Lets not reinvent the wheel. Blue jeans and a white t-shirt will never get old but why not try spicing it up? Look for accessories of the season in trending colors. Boom. Now you can strut out the door pouring with style and confidence. Sunglasses are a perfect accessory to pick up in a trending seasonal color. For colder months a cool trucker hat or beanie can take your outfit from basic to contemporary in seconds.
Take a walk, outside your comfort zone:
Fashion is about expression and exploration. Embrace the unfamiliar and experiment with styles that have piqued your interest. Squash the negative voice in your head yelling a specific style wont look good on you; it’s all about confidence. If your hesitant, go for something subtle, maybe it’s a layering piece you wouldn’t typically reach for. Maybe its as simple a tuck or cuff of a garment you’re already comfortable in. Remember, inspiration is everywhere, look to incorporate some of your favorite colors, textures, and styles to your wardrobe from the people, places, or things that inspire you.
Revamping your wardrobe is not just about the clothes; it’s about expressing your unique identity. Tailoring, accessorizing, and exploring are all a journey to finding what styles you like best and what you will feel most comfortable and confident in. At the end of the day, they’re just clothes, why not have some fun with it.
